Colleen + Kris – Sweet Love in Santa Monica | A Romantic Affair at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows
The Couple: It was love at first sight for sweethearts Colleen and Kris who were introduced by their mutual best friend and Best Man after Kris made his post-college move from Scottsdale, Arizona to Santa Monica. They felt right at home saying “I do,” in the beach city where they met, fell in love and reside.
The Venue: A majority of guests (whether in- or out-of-town) opted to stay at the luxury hotel which went above and beyond to make wedding guests feel right at home. Every nook and cranny of the property was made available for the wedding party’s weekend festivities including an afternoon Welcome Croquet and Corn Hole Tournament on the Miramar Gardens lawn; evening Wine and Cheese Tasting on the Sunset Terrace; and late-night Cupcakes and Cocktails at the hotel’s popular lounge, The Bungalow.
The Details: The Fairmont’s 130-year-old Moreton Bay Fig tree became the muse of the couple’s wedding details. And, it was certainly all about the details for this food blogger/wedding planner bride and design-builder groom. From homemade fig jam guest favors and romantic invitations designed and made by the bride and her mother, to the groom’s handmade jumbo flowers decking the tree’s limbs for the cocktail reception, the Fig tree symbolized the couple’s new union, vow to grow in love every day and commitment to making the world a more beautiful place as husband and wife.
The Party: “His” and “Hers” signature cocktails under the Fig tree kicked off the black tie reception. A nod to her Irish heritage, the bride’s parents surprised the couple with a fife player which guided guests into the ballroom for a full night of dinner and dancing. Chef Ray Garcia created a custom seasonal menu complete with wine pairings for each course. When the reception concluded another surprise for the couple from the bride’s parents: an after party with an Irish cover band, Sweet Treat table with goodies baked by the bride and groom’s best friends, and Chef Ray’s gourmet hot dog cart.
